It's easy to leave life's little pleasures and triumps behind, with all the hussle and bussle that the big things bring. To remember these little things (that piece together to shape our life), I'm going to document my weekly highlights. From enjoying fullcream milk on my cereal to overcoming a 11 month old whinge fest, these highlights are the things that make our life gold.
My heart is overflowing with so much love right now. I am so so proud of you and the wonderful person that you are. You have grown into a little person capable of conversations, opinions and so much loving.
Things have changed a LOT from the early days where the personality of my baby was just a daydream(and from all the crying was predicted to be grim!), to today when your fabulous personality is on display everyday(in enormous flashing neon lights). You put a smile of the face of everyone you come across. Here are the words that best describe you just before you turn 2.
What are you up to these days? You love playing with dolls and treat them so gently and with so much care. You sing to them, feed them and rock them in your arms. You pretend to go shopping and 'buy' imaginary corn and apples to give to Me and Dad. You have an amazing perception of peoples feelings and are often pointing to characters in books and saying they are sad and you know that they need a hug to feel better. You never cease to amaze us with the things you have learnt. You can count to ten and can sing the alphabet which is incredible. You don't stop talking unless you are asleep. You have an impressive understanding of everything. You remember the words and tunes to so many songs. You love to sing and to be sung to. Your current favourite tunes are - The Playschool theme song, The Colours of the Rainbow and Twinkle Little Star. You requested Jingle Bells every night for about 6 months after Christmas but we have managed to move on to something else now! Your favourite food is toast and favourite people are Nan, Grandad and Teo from Playschool. You love watching Playschool and going out, especially to the shops or the park. We used to call you Evie Poo as a cute nickname. That graduated to Evie Poodle when your hair became curly. But I think it's time we stop calling you this because when asked "what is your name" you reply "My name is Evie Poodle!".
We are so lucky to have you in our family. We are a team. Your Dad is fabulous. You would have thought we'd have grown tired of it by now, but we still sneak in to watch you sleeping peacefully every single night. No matter how long the day has been, this always makes my heart melt (I promise I won't still be doing this when you are a teenager). You sleep from 6:30pm (when your dad and I do a victorious dance) until somewhere between 5-6:30am. We certainly don't waste any of the precious time we have in the World.
Nothing makes me happier than hugging you. But the squirmy toddler that you are, won't sit still long enough for me to get anywhere near the number of hugs I crave! I hope you learn to love them as much as I do and come to me for hugs forever.
My hopes for you are that you keep smiling as much as you do now for the rest of your life.
